Our Founder, Megan Hychko, brought Farren Baby into the world soon after having her own beautiful children. A new mom, Megan began exploring the principles and philosophies of Dr. Maria Montessori and, like so many other parents and educators, became enamored with the values and ideals. In Megan’s own words:

“I love the idea of fostering independence and allowing children to explore the world around them. After learning the importance of setting up prepared environments, I learned that in the category of self care, is self dressing. For me, I adopted the Montessori ideals when my son was a toddler. Allowing him to dress and choose his outfits was beyond rewarding for him. In order for him to enjoy this accomplishment, I needed to set up the proper environment with appropriate choices. Then after my daughter was born, I realized that clothing that fosters independence and allows for free movement applies to not only toddlers, but infants as well.”

There was only one problem, beyond some rough guidelines and theories, a search online for Montessori Clothing rendered no results. Left to her own devices Megan began macgyver-ing solutions, researching the best fabrics, altering clothes, and sizing up to allow her son to dress without the burden of tight cuffs or arm holes. Still, the options available didn’t fully align with Megan’s Mom-tessori vision. It was then that she created her first original designs and Farren Baby was born.
